Is Flickr Flickering?

Gerry caught me on iChat tonight and let me know he was having trouble reaching Flickr-- he's right! What's happening?

And it looks like they are based in Vancouver... Did Mount St. Helens blow a big cork and blast it north? I hope not!

Maybe flickr is just flickering.

On their weblog and elsewhere they have made recent remarks about the massive increase in bandwidth and server demands they are being hit with -- that some recent investment capital was needed to buy servers... I'm not aware of any effects of volcanic activity.

[I work at flickr]

Our DNS provider has been flaking out on us; our servers are up and running just fine, but without functioning DNS service, you would not know that :( We are very sorry for the outages, and we are taking steps to make sure it does not happen again.
